Luoyang Zhengju’s Youth Day: Bridging Communities Through Tech and Care

On Youth Day, Luoyang Zhengju New Materials turned its focus to bridging generational gaps with a heartwarming initiative: "Connecting Ages", a day of service uniting employees with elderly residents in three urban communities. Embracing the May Fourth spirit of initiative and empathy, over 180 young volunteers combined technological know-how with heartfelt interaction.
The centerpiece was a "Tech Help Station" where employees taught seniors to use smartphones, video-call family, and access health services online. Using large-print guides printed on durable composite paper—resistant to spills and tears—volunteers patiently walked 120 elderly participants through apps, from ride-hailing to medical appointment booking. "Grandma Li kept saying, ‘I can finally see my grandson in Beijing daily!’ It’s priceless," said 27-year-old IT specialist Kevin Zhang.
Teams also renovated community lounges with the company’s ergonomic composite furniture—chairs with extra padding, tables at accessible heights, and bright, shatterproof lighting. They installed digital photo frames (encased in impact-resistant composites) pre-loaded with residents’ family photos, creating a cozy, personalized space. "These chairs are so comfortable—I could sit here all day chatting," 笑道 (laughed) 78-year-old Mr. Zhao.
A special "Memory Lane" project saw volunteers recording seniors’ life stories, preserving them in audio formats stored on lightweight composite devices. These "voice time capsules" were gifted to families, ensuring cherished tales live on. Employees also organized a tea party with homemade snacks, served on eco-friendly composite plates, fostering casual conversations that broke down age barriers.
To cap the day, volunteers performed a short play about youth and wisdom, using props made from recycled composites, earning hearty applause. "Youth Day isn’t just about young people—it’s about passing on energy and care," said 29-year-old event coordinator Lisa Wang.
CEO Daniel Chen joined in, helping a senior learn to take photos. "Today reminds us: innovation isn’t just about materials. It’s about connecting people. Our young team has shown that tech, paired with kindness, can build beautiful bridges between generations."
Residents now visit the lounges daily, with many seniors video-calling families regularly. The initiative will expand monthly, with Zhengju donating 50 more composite-framed tablets to community centers. As the day’s warmth lingered, it was clear: Youth Day at Zhengju isn’t just an event—it’s a promise to nurture community bonds, today and tomorrow.
