Luoyang Zhengju New Materials Transforms Rural School with Smart Classroom Innovations

In a bid to bridge the urban-rural education gap, Luoyang Zhengju New Materials Co., Ltd. launched a transformative project to upgrade Xinzhuang Primary School—a rural school in Luoyang’s outskirts—with cutting-edge, durable materials designed to create a modern, inspiring learning environment. The two-week initiative in August 2025, involving 60 employee volunteers and technical experts, merged the company’s material expertise with a commitment to educational equity.

The centerpiece of the project was the renovation of four smart classrooms, equipped to support digital learning while withstanding the wear and tear of daily use. Workers replaced outdated desks and chairs with lightweight, ergonomic models made from high-strength composite materials—resistant to scratches, stains, and moisture, ideal for rural environments with fluctuating humidity. The chairs feature adjustable heights and lumbar support, ensuring comfort for students aged 6 to 12, while the desks include built-in charging ports for tablets and laptops, encased in shatterproof composite covers.

To enable interactive teaching, the team installed large-format interactive whiteboards framed in impact-resistant composites. These boards, designed to withstand frequent use and accidental bumps, connect to educational software that allows teachers to display videos, share digital lessons, and collaborate with students in real time. The boards are paired with composite-mounted projectors that deliver clear, glare-free images even in bright daylight, eliminating the need for dimly lit classrooms.

Lighting and acoustics were key focuses to enhance focus and engagement. The classrooms received energy-efficient LED lighting systems housed in composite fixtures that diffuse light evenly, reducing eye strain. Acoustic composite panels, installed on walls and ceilings, absorb noise by 35%, minimizing distractions from adjacent rooms or outdoor activity—a critical upgrade in a school where thin walls once made concentration difficult. "Now we can have group discussions without disturbing other classes," said 4th-grade teacher Ms. Chen.

The school’s science lab underwent a complete overhaul with safety and durability in mind. New lab tables, made from chemical-resistant composite surfaces, withstand spills of acids and other substances, while rounded edges prevent injuries. Storage cabinets, crafted from fire-retardant composites, safely house equipment and materials, with childproof locks to ensure security. The lab also gained composite shelving units designed to hold heavy equipment without warping, even in humid conditions.

Outdoor learning spaces were not overlooked. Volunteers built a covered activity pavilion using weather-resistant composite beams and roofing—capable of withstanding rain, wind, and extreme temperatures. The pavilion’s floor, made from slip-resistant composite planks, provides a safe area for outdoor classes, art projects, or assemblies. Alongside it, a small garden with raised composite planters allows students to learn about botany; the planters, resistant to rot and pests, require minimal maintenance—perfect for a school with limited staff.

To support digital literacy, the company donated 30 tablet computers, each encased in rugged composite cases to protect against drops. A composite shelving system in the school library was installed to organize books and tablets, with labeled compartments that make resources easy to find. The library also received new composite seating—sturdy yet comfortable benches and reading nooks designed to withstand heavy use.

On the project’s final day, volunteers hosted a technology workshop for teachers, demonstrating how to integrate the new tools into lessons. Students participated in a science experiment using the lab’s new equipment, erupting "volcanoes" with safe materials—a first for many. "I never thought we’d have a lab as nice as the ones in city schools," said 11-year-old student Li Wei, grinning.

School principal Mr. Zhang expressed gratitude: "These upgrades don’t just give us better facilities—they give our students hope. When they see that people care enough to invest in their education, it motivates them to dream bigger."

CEO Ms. Guo highlighted the project’s significance: "Education is the foundation of progress, and every child deserves access to a quality learning environment. Our materials are built to last, just like the impact we hope to have on these students’ futures."

Since the renovation, student attendance and participation have increased, with teachers reporting improved focus and enthusiasm. The school now serves as a model for nearby rural communities, with local leaders seeking partnerships to replicate the upgrades. As Luoyang Zhengju continues to innovate, it remains committed to using its resources to empower the next generation—one classroom at a time.
